2016 Ford Focus RS review

Powered by a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine for all four wheels on the new system is Ford Performance-wheel drive, the Focus RS said north of 315 hp to produce. The 2.3-liter in question is an improved version of the engine in the base version of the new Mustang, a change with a new twin-scroll turbocharger, low inertia with a larger compressor wider distribution represents air, besides a large intercooler charge density . maximize Ford developed a head gasket and cylinder head is robust to withstand higher temperatures, while the setting of the hot hatch with a larger cooling package for more cooling. Focus RS is also equipped with a powerful large-diameter exhaust system with electronically controlled valve in the exhaust pipe to the main level with compressive strength. The six-speed transmission is to tolerate the higher output torque redesigned with a stronger components of the shift lever was adapted into shorter layers.

The most innovative aspect of the new RS is the Ford Performance-wheel drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring (the previous Focus RS was FWD only) be. It operates by means of two electronically-controlled clutch packs on both sides of the rear-wheel drive, which control the distribution of a side-by-side torque to the rear axle and adjust the front / rear torque split. The control input to the vehicle system monitors 100 times per second and adjust the front / rear and left to right of the torque as a function of the driving situation. It can refer to 70 percent of the available drive torque to the rear axle, if necessary, and up to 100 percent of one of the two right rear wheels on the rear axle.

Unlike its predecessors, we were all very pleased with this version of the RS receives drives. The all-wheel drive of the drive system makes use of a pair of electronically controlled clutch plates; to 70 percent of the torque to the rear wheels at all times, 100 percent of the torque on each rear wheel with “Dynamic torque vectoring” sent Ford system in the corners are controlled, a higher torque can parry to the outside rear wheel and the car. a braking system “Torque Vectoring Control” nothing new for the Focus RS, which is a common goal.

Fast Fords are always affordable – take a look at the Fiesta ST as an example – and we’ve heard that the brand is aiming for a starting price of £27,000 for the Focus RS.
